24 students are on a hunger strike demanding the resignation of the Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST). 16 of them have fallen ill and have been admitted to different hospitals in Sylhet. Doctors said the condition of the three sick students was critical. On Saturday (January 22) at noon, the doctor in charge of the hunger strike Md. Mustakim said 17 sick students were sent to the hospital. One of them returned to the hunger strike after receiving treatment from the hospital. Among the sick 9 are female students. He added that almost three days of fasting have passed. Students' glucose levels dropped. Saline and first aid have been given for this. If the condition is critical, he is being sent to the hospital. Dr. Mustakim said students' protein levels have also begun to decline. A person needs a certain amount of protein and fat every day. Students on hunger strike are lacking these. Some of the students are in danger of becoming seriously ill soon. He said the condition of three students being treated at the hospital was critical.
